Apologies for my unannounced silence since last Saturday. The power supply on my Dell failed, draining the battery so I couldn’t even back up my files to another computer. I just got it back now. More on this spectacular failure next week. This week has given me the chance to work on my novel, The Only Life We Know, and my book Natural Enterprise, as well as a chance to catch my breath and think about (a) what to blog about next, and (b) what to do with myself once the three books are finished.
Here are some of the things I’m planning on blogging about in the next few weeks. If there’s anything else you’d like me to write about, let me know.
Lots of thought-provoking stuff, so stick around. |
Same thing happened to my Dell. Actually, right at the end of my extended warranty, I lost a keyboard, a hard drive (my second), the power supply, and the power connector on the motherboard.I went out and bought a PowerBook that week.
For topics, how about: making changes that start trends, or how to set an example that others notice and will want to follow. I’m trying to think of ways of getting the message beyond the echo chamber.
JD: I’m in the process of setting up a second computer and syncing my blog and e-mails with it every day. It will be cumbersome, but this has been an embarrassing experience for me.Derek: Excellent suggestion. If you have any thoughts on this, please e-mail me and let’s discuss them — then perhaps we can write something jointly. I think Stories have enormous motivational power, and I’ll be sharing one about someone who set an Example that a *lot* of people noticed. The stuff of myth that transcends and even shapes ideology.
Welcome back; you were missed.
With regard to the kids and nature point, I am involved in setting up a weblog network project with Global Generation, a London-based charity who work with kids to encourage them to explore their identity in terms of the global eco-system.We are developing the idea of a “hub” weblog for G.G. which will focus (via newsfeed aggregation) the blogging of the educational groups and individual kids G.G. works with.i-together (the organisation I am forming with some others) will take the role of facilitating the development of the weblog “meta-network” and provide training to its users. We are also looking to partner with other NGOs to add further hubs in the future. Any ideas and feedback are welcome!
