Dave,History repeats itself, we see it coming every time and still watch helplessly from the sidelines as elected politicians refuse to shed their party affiliations and fail to serve the constituency they were elected to represent.I attribute this to the complacent attitude of the average citizenry towards political participation. How the powerful media allows this situation to come by, I fail to fathom. But we have to remember, that the media is but a slave to our preferences – so it really comes back to us.No matter how important a subject matter is, if it does not have an entertaining component, chances are it gets ignored by the general public. To test this, I tried to provoke the erudite members of one of my blog communities into action and participation but only ended up proving my point. Here is a link to blog if anyone here is interested. I challenged the readers to vote for the planet or against it – and only 0.5% took any action at all.http://alwayson.goingon.com/permalink/post/15178Initially, after overcoming the election debacle of 2000, I liked the way, Bush responded to 9/11 and felt he was sincere in his position on fighting the war on terror. I still think he may be – but his loyalty to his party and Dick Cheney is overriding his duty to his people. I am not sure if there is anyone in the Democratic party either who does not play the party card. I only hope that we get to see a new true leader somewhere in this pool.. for some reason, I still believe in Al Gore.Vish Goda
