EXPERIENCE :

October 1990 to present: Sole practitioner, specializing in copyright, music and entertainment law. Current clients include :

    –    the Copyright Board of Canada
    –     arts funding organizations: FACTOR and Independent Production Fund
    –     the Canadian Music Industry Data Base and CIRPA
    –     record companies including Narada, MRP and Holborne
    –     music publishing companies
    –    recording artists, songwriters and artist managers
    –     live musical presenters
    –    an Internet-delivered music service provider

I have been on retainer for ten years with Narada, a Virgin-owned record company based in the US and was on retainer for four years with PolyGram Music Publishing Canada until its merger with Universal Music.

I have been asked to appear as an expert witness on a number of matters before the courts, both related to entertainment law and to French language translation.

MEDIATION EXPERIENCE:

Beginning in April 1999, under the auspices of the Copyright Board, I acted as mediator, first with respect to the text of the Educational Broadcast Program Information Regulations, and then with respect to the text of the Educational Rights Collective of Canadaís first tariff.  These processes involved between six and nine parties.
