PETER KERNAHAN

PETER KERNAHAN

As you know I went away to Harvard and then stayed in the US and attended medical school in Chicago.  I did my residency in surgery at Stanford and finished there in 1984.  Following that I settled in Minneapolis-St Paul where I practice general and vascular surgery.  I made the journey back to Stanford in 1991-1992 to attend the Business School,

The Twin Cities have been a great place to live – almost like living in Canada – and I can make it up to Lake of the Woods sometimes.  I didn’t exactly rush into marriage but my long time friend, Carol, and I finally “settled down” in 1999.  Carol is a dermatologist.

Currently I’m the associate chair of surgery for the HealthPartners Medical Group (550 docs).  We have a department of 25 surgeons.  In January I’ll be making a major change and start full time study in medical history and economics at the University.
